September 2024 – Naya Rockers partner with legendary reggae icon Sister Nancy, and has been one of the most sampled reggae tracks in history. Her story has been captured in a documentary: Bam Bam: The Sister Nancy Story released earlier this year. We are fortunate to have her on board with this project. She delivered a powerful and everlasting message in Teach The Youths where Sister Nancy underscores the role of education in shaping a better future for all.
“Education is the key, you must understand”, says Sister Nancy, whose unmistakable voice and lyrical skills have inspired listeners for decades. The track, recorded between studios in Iceland, New Jersey, and Jamaica, encapsulates a global collaboration, enhancing its core message with each session.
Produced by Nathan Sabanayagam and co-produced by bassist Nate Edgar the song benefits from a wealth of musical talent. Instrumentation was recorded at Floki Studios in Iceland by recording engineer Wade Koeman, with additional vocal tracking done at Majestic Fyah Studio in New Jersey and guitar overdubs at the legendary Tuff Gong Studios in Jamaica. Musicians featured on the track include Earl “Chinna” Smith and Andy Bassford on guitar, Cameron Greenlee on keys, and Alex Beram on Akete, weaving a rich and textured sonic landscape that complements Sister Nancy’s commanding vocals.
The mix was completed at Tuff Gong Studios, under the skilled hands of Stephen Stewart and Michael “Boxy” Howell, bringing a distinctively authentic reggae feel to the final production. The collaboration with some of reggae’s most respected names has resulted in a timeless track, destined to become a standout in Naya Records’ catalog
