KING BANTON (real name:Lorne Wayne Gordon). was born in Savanna-La-Mar, Jamaica. Gordon began his career as a DJ. He switched to singing Roots Reggae in the early 1980s, influenced by his friend and mentor, Dennis Brown. He later moved to the United States and performed under the names Crissy / Chrissy Banton, before changing it to King Banton.
