Years ago well before SHYRICK, I met a rasta through Facebook and did a little graphic work for. His name was RICKEY GRANT and I soon learned that this gentleman had deep roots. What a pleasant surprise it was for me to scan through MAJESTYK SOUND MACHINE Track List and see quite a few RTICKY GRANT  tracks on it.  What a treat family! Don't believe me? Born in the vibrant heart of Kingston, Jamaica, on July 24th, 1949, **Ricardo "Ricky" Grant** has etched his name into the annals of reggae history. From the raw streets of Kingston to the global stage, his journey is a testament to the power of music to transcend borders and time.

Ricky’s musical roots began in the late 1960s when he became a key member of **The Afrotones**. His collaborations with producer **Sonia Pottinger** saw the release of timeless songs like “All For One” and “If I’m In A Corner,” marking the early stages of a brilliant career. As the years progressed, Ricky’s voice would continue to resonate across iconic reggae productions.

But Ricky’s journey didn’t stop there. His second LP, *Poverty People* (1979), unleashed one of his finest tracks, **“Freedom Sounds”**, and solidified his place in reggae lore. Even after a hiatus, Ricky’s dedication to the genre didn’t waver. He made a triumphant return in the 2010s with singles like “Pure In Heart” and the album *Ricky Grant at Roots Vibes* (2013), keeping his authentic sound alive for new generations.
